High School: Laver earned four letters in basketball and golf for Pleasanton High School. He was nominated for the McDonalds All-American Game as a senior. In his junior season, Laver earned Second Team All-League honors, was named to the Linn County Team, was the Top Boys Selection All-Linn County League, was named Second Team All-State by the Wichita Eagle, earned First Team All-State by Kansas Sports, earned Second Team All-Area Craw-Kan Southeast, was named Second Team KBCA All-State. He was fourth in the state of Kansas in blocks and sixth in the state in rebounds. Laver was named team MVP and was named to the Ozark Christian College Camp All-Star Team. He averaged 16.7 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 4.1 blocks per game. In his sophomore season, Laver was named Second Team All-League.

Personal: Laver is the son of Travis and Julie Laver and plans to major in business administration.
