#22 Braves Travel to Kansas City to Play Avila on Saturday

The Braves are 23-10-1 overall and in second place in the KCAC with a record of 13-3. OU is 9-6 away from Alumni Park this season. Ottawa split it double header with Bethany College on Monday. OU won game one in five innings, 9-1 but fell in game two, 4-3. In the double header against the Swedes, Ottawa hit .315 scored 12 runs, hit three doubles and two home runs, drove in 12, had a .481 slugging percentage, walked four times, was hit by a pitch two times, and had a .377 on base percentage. The pitching staff had a 2.47 ERA, striking out 13 and Bethany had a .154 batting average.

Through 34 games, Ottawa has scored 204 runs and hit 30 home runs. The Braves have a .299 batting average, a .377 on base percentage, and a .473 slugging percentage.

Ottawa's 30 home runs is ranked third in the OU record book for single season home runs. The record is 39 set in 2014.

OU is ranked 45th in runs scored (204), 33rd in triples (11), 12th in home runs (30), 41st in RBI (183), 48th in walks (94), 32nd in sacrifice flies (11), 44th in sacrifice hits (25), 41st in slugging percentage (.473), 21st in ERA (2.13), ninth in shutouts (12), and 15th in opponent batting average (.211).

Justyse Rodriguez leads the Braves in batting average (.412), Madison Bunfill is OU's leader in RBI (32), Amber Flummerfelt leads the Braves in ERA (2.03), and Casson Rasmussen is the team's leader in strike outs (95).

Casson Rasmussen is five strike outs away from 100. It would be the eighth time in program history that an OU pitcher has struck out 100 in a season. Rasmussen's 168 strike outs in 2021 is ranked fourth in the OU record book in single season strike outs.

OU is ranked 38th in the NAIA in triples (11), 14th in home runs (30), 51st in RBI (183), 41st in sacrifice flies (11), 39th in slugging percentage (.473), 19th in ERA (2.13), 11th shutouts (12), and 15th in opponent batting average (.211)

Ottawa has a record of 8-25 against Avila University. The Braves are on a three game winning streak after winning both games of last years double header in Ottawa and taking a 4-0 victory in the KCAC Tournament on May 7 in Great Bend, Kan. Ottawa defeated Avila on April 17, 6-2 and 7-4. The last time the two teams met in Kansas City, Mo. was on Feb. 14, 2018. Ottawa split the double header with Avila. The Eagles won game one, 8-6 but OU bounced back to take game two, 5-4. The first meeting between Avila and Ottawa happened on March 11, 1996. The Eagles won the game 11-8.

Avila University is 18-19 overall and in eighth place in the KCAC with a record of 8-8. The Eagles are 10-8 at home this season and are on a two game winning streak after taking the double header against Bethel College in North Newton, Kan. 7-4 in game one and 7-3 in game two on Thursday.

Chelsea Kurtz leads Avila in batting average (.348), Brooke Day is the team's leader in RBI (26), and Payton Walter leads the Eagles in ERA (3.67) and strike outs (38).

Avila is ranked 47th in the NAIA in sacrifice hits (47), seventh in stolen bases (118), 31st in caught stealing (12), and 47th in shutouts (6).
