Ottawa defeated Avila on April 17, 6-2 and 7-4. The last time the two teams met in Kansas City, Mo. was on Feb. 14, 2018. Ottawa split the double header with Avila. The Eagles won game one, 8-6 but OU bounced back to take game two, 5-4. The first meeting between Avila and Ottawa happened on March 11, 1996. The Eagles won the game 11-8.

Avila University is 18-19 overall and in eighth place in the KCAC with a record of 8-8. The Eagles are 10-8 at home this season and are on a two game winning streak after taking the double header against Bethel College in North Newton, Kan. 7-4 in game one and 7-3 in game two on Thursday.

Chelsea Kurtz leads Avila in batting average (.348), Brooke Day is the team's leader in RBI (26), and Payton Walter leads the Eagles in ERA (3.67) and strike outs (38).

Avila is ranked 47th in the NAIA in sacrifice hits (47), seventh in stolen bases (118), 31st in caught stealing (12), and 47th in shutouts (6).
