Braves Move On To the KCAC Semifinals by Defeating William Penn, 16-9

Box Score OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's lacrosse team moves on to the KCAC Semifinals after defeating the #5 seed William Penn Statesmen, 16-9, on Saturday at AdventHealth Field. Quinn Crandall broke a program record today as she surpassed Kiarah Thomas for most points in a career at Ottawa University.

William Penn got on the board first but the lead wouldn't last as Ottawa would score three straight goals. Cecily Anderson scored the first goal for the Braves and Quinn Crandall followed with two goals. The first goal that Crandall scored gave her the program record and Ottawa was up 3-1. The Statesmen would add a goal to make the score 3-2, but again Ottawa responded with four straight goals. Ashley Santillan, Mackenzie Simmons, Crandall and Anderson found the back of the net to put OU up 8-2 at the end of the first quarter. Anderson started the second quarter with two straight goals to extend Ottawa's lead to 10-2. William Penn would fight back and add two goals to make the score 10-4. Two more goals were scored by the Braves before halftime, Simmons and Crandall were the goal scorers and Ottawa took an 11-4 lead into the break.

Jasmin Roybal started the third quarter with a goal to give Ottawa an eight goal lead, 12-4. WPU responded with three goals to make the score 12-7. Anderson and Crandall continued their offensive surge and scored a goal apiece to end the third, OU's lead after three was 14-7. Anderson threw in two goals off assists by Crandall to start the fourth to make the score 16-7. William Penn scored two goals but couldn't muster a comeback and Ottawa defeated the Statesmen, 16-9.

Inside the Box Score
Cecily Anderson scored seven goals in the contest to lead the Braves to the semifinals. Quinn Crandall followed with another all-around game with five goals and six assists. Mackenzie Simmons added two goals, Ashley Santillan and Jasmin Roybal found the back of the net once each. Shannon Carroll finished with one assist in the game. Freshman Shelby Bearden started in net for the Braves and had four saves in 60 minutes. Ottawa outshot William Penn, 32-20.

The #4 seed Ottawa Braves will now face the #1 seed Benedictine Ravens on Thursday, April 21st. The Braves and the Ravens will play in Atchison, Kan. on Thursday.
