Ottawa won its fifth straight game with a double header sweep of Bethel College last Saturday in North Newton. Ottawa won game one in six innings, 12-2 and took game two in five innings, 10-0. OU hit .339, scored 22 runs, hit five doubles and three home runs, drove in 17 runs, had a .589 slugging percentage, walked eighth times, had a .433 on base percentage, and stole three bases. The Braves' pitching staff had a 1.27 ERA, striking out 12 in 11 innings. Bethel had a .167 batting average.
The Braves are 28-11-1 overall and 18-4 in the KCAC. Ottawa is in first place in the KCAC and has a one game lead over Oklahoma Wesleyan University, who was swept by Kansas Wesleyan University last Saturday. Ottawa has a record of 15-2-1 at home this season and have won 12 straight at home this season. OU's last loss at home was on Feb. 27 against William Woods University. The Owls won the game 5-3.
Through 40 games, Ottawa has scored 249 runs and hit 34 home runs. OU has a .298 batting average, a .380 on base percentage, and a .467 slugging percentage.
The Braves are ranked 42nd in the NAIA in runs (249), 17th in home runs (34), 43rd in RBI (221), 39th in walks (120), 34th in sacrifice flies (14), 43rd in slugging percentage (.467), 25th in ERA (2.19), 12th in shutouts (14), and 12th in opponent batting average (.206).
Ottawa has a record of 48-15 against Tabor College. OU is in a three game winning streak against the Bluejays. The Braves took the double header last season in Hillsboro on April 21. OU won game one, 3-0 and game two, 5-0. The first meeting between the two teams happened on April 10, 1996. OU won the game 9-1.
