Women's Basketball Runs Past Kansas Christian, 116-43

OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's basketball team won its home opener, 116-43, over Kansas Christian College on Monday night in Wilson Field House. The win is the first collegiate coaching victory for head coach Hunter Bondurant. The Braves' 116 points sets a new school record for points scored in a single game.

The Braves held the Falcons to six first quarter points. OU forced 11 first quarter turnovers and led 35-6 at the end of one.  In the second quarter, the Braves increased their lead to 45 points, taking a 64-19 lead into the locker room.

In the second half the Braves continued to apply the defensive pressure, defeating Kansas Christian 116-43.

  • The Braves shot 46.2 percent from the floor, 37 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 65 percent from the free throw line.
  • Abby Dietsche led OU with 27 points on 12-for-17 shooting from the floor. She had eight rebounds.
  • Kennedy Bankett and Janiyah Hendricks came off the bench to score in double figures. Bankett scored 14 points and Hendricks finished with 10 points. Hendricks had five assists.
  • Nayeli Acosta scored 13 points and finished with six assists.
  • Hailey Henry had six assists, nine rebounds, and five steals.

Ottawa (1-0) returns to the court on Tuesday, Nov. 7 in Wilson Field House against Baker University. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
