OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's basketball team fell 95-79 to Bethel College on Wednesday night in Wilson Field House.
Bethel shot the ball well from the floor in the first half, shooting 55 percent in the first quarter and 60 percent in the second quarter. The Threshers led 26-16 at the start of the second quarter behind 10-for-18 shooting from the floor.
At the start of the second, OU held the Threshers scoreless for almost the first four minutes. A 3-pt field goal by
Nayeli Acosta put the Braves within 26-23. Bethel, however, was able to end the half on an 18-13 run to take a 44-36 lead into the locker room.
Bethel continued with its hot shooting, finishing with 54 percent shooting in the second half. The Threshers were able to get to the free throw line 26 times in the second half, scoring 21 points from the charity stripe.
At the start of the third, Ottawa cut into Bethel's lead and were within four points, 49-45 after a basket by
Kennedy Bankett with 6:33 left in the quarter. The Threshers responded by outscoring OU, 21-14, to take a 70-59 lead into the fourth.
In the final quarter of play, Bethel was able to push its lead to 21 points, 83-62. Ottawa was not able to rally, and the Threshers took the 95-79 victory.
