OTTAWA, Kan. - The #10 Ottawa men's wrestling team will compete in the Eagle Duals in the final tournament of the first half of the 2023-24 season. The Eagle Duals will be on Saturday, December 16th in Kansas City, Missouri. The duals are being hosted by Avila University. Ottawa will face Friends at 10 a.m., Oklahoma City at 11:15 a.m., William Penn at 12:30 p.m. and Central Methodist at 1:45 p.m.
OU took down the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles on December 7th, 40-9, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Benjamin Pope started the night with a win over Daniel Glenn on a 12-4 major decision in the 125lb weight division.
Braden Ledford won by fall over Zeke Wheeler in the 133lb weight class.
Brandon Kidd Jr. won by forfeit in the 149lb weight division. In the 165lb weight division,
Francis Morrissey won on a 16-4 major decision over Braxton Bacon.
Braden Anderson picked up a 10-3 decision win over Jaden Walden in the 174lb weight division.
Jordan Lomeli defeated Bryan Ayala on a 21-5 technical fall in the 184lb weight class.
JD Perez and Issac Gibson won by falls in their respect weight divisions, Perez in the 197lb and Gibson in the 285lb.
Ottawa moves up to #10 in the NAIA poll. The Braves have eight individually ranked,
Brandon Kidd Jr. is ranked 18th in the 149lb weight class,
Francis Morrissey is ninth in the 157lb,
Ben Mitchell is #25 in the 157lb,
Dayton Hill moves up to #10 in the 165lb,
Braden Anderson is #10 in the 174lb weight class,
JD Perez is fourth in the 184lb and
Jordan Lomeli is 17th in the 184lb and
Tucker Tomlinson is eighth in the 197lb weight division.
The Braves went 4-0 at the Eagle Duals in 2022. Ottawa defeated Oklahoma City, Missouri Baptist, St. Thomas and Campbellsville.
