The Ottawa Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field teams opened their seasons up as they competed in the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic in Maryville, Mo.
Jahkoby Franklin was the high finisher in the men's 60m with a time of 7.09, and Cameron Franklin and Miles Minson finished in 18th and 41st with times of 7.19 and 7.73.
Jordyn Weems finished in 13th in the womens's 60m with a time of 7.90, and Jah-Nisha Campbell, Tanzania Barnes,
Saraiah Ervin, and
Kayla Whiteaker also finished in places 27th, 29th, 40th, and 42nd, with times of 8.28, 8.36, 8.60, and 8.65.
JayOnna Perry finished 2nd in the women's 60m hurdles prelims with a time of 8.90, breaking a school school record. She broke it once more in the finals, running an 8.81.
Kayla Whiteaker placed 32nd in the women's 200m with a time of 29.09.
Jahkoby Franklin placed 9th in the men's 200m with a time of 22.71, and
Cameron Jackson, Daniel Blount and Miles Mason followed in 18th, 25th, and 34th with times of 23.39, 23.83, and 24.67.
Chase Hight finished 9th in the men's 400m, with a time of 52.03.
Destiny Escobar and Jennae Escobar finished back-to-back in 8th and 9th in the women's 600y with times of 1:31.57 and 1:39.81.
Jordan Mitchell placed in 9th in the men's 600y with a 1:19.51 time.
The Women's 4x400m relay won their race as they finished with a time of 3:58.16, breaking a school record.
Hadyn Bieling and Daniel Blount finished in 3rd and 5th in the men's high jump with jumps of 1.99m for both.
JayOnna Perry, Jah-Nisha Campbell, and
Saraiah Ervin finished 5th, 6th, and 12th in the women's high jump with jumps of 1.51m, 1.46m, and 1.41m.
Marion Cheatem finished 13th in the men's long jump with a 6.11m jump.
Jordyn Weems finished in 4th in the women's long jump with a jump of 5.19m, and
Kayla Whiteaker finished in 20th with a 4.42m.
Karley Faudere finished 12th in women's shot put with a throw of 11.22m.
Mario Cheatem and Daniel Blount finished 3rd and 7th in the men's triple jump with jumps of 13.71m and 13.34m.
Jaine Johnson finished in 7th in the women's weight throw with a throw of 14.51m.
The Braves are back in action on December 9 as they travel to the Crimson and Gold Invitational in Pittsburg, Kan.
