Ottawa opened its 2023 season with a sweep of Hastings College last Saturday at Alumni Park. OU won game one in six innings, 8-0, and took game two, 4-3. The Braves finished the weekend with a .286 batting average, 12 runs scored, hit four doubles, one triple, one home run, had seven RBI, a .469 slugging percentage, walked six times, was hit by a pitch once, had a .368 on base percentage, and was 3-for-4 in stolen base attempts.

OU's pitching staff had a 1.62 ERA, striking out nine and Hastings had a .191 batting average.

Missouri Valley College leads the series, 5-4. The last time the two teams met was on March 16, 2016 in Ottawa. The Braves defeated the Vikings 1-0 in game one and 8-6 in game two. OU is 4-2 at home against MVC. The first meeting between the two teams happened on March 2, 2007. Missouri Valley won the game, 4-2.

Madison Bunfill leads the Braves with a .500 batting average (2-4). Hannah Copeland is OU's leader in RBI (2) and Ashlynn Mercer is the Braves' leader in ERA (0.00) and strike outs (7).

Saturday's double header is Missouri Valley's season opener.
