HASTINGS, Neb. – The Ottawa University women's tennis team opened its spring season with a 5-2 victory over Hastings College on Saturday afternoon. The win was OU head coach
Dony McKnight's first career collegiate women's tennis coaching victory.
The Braves finished singles with a record of 5-2 and won the doubles point, 2-1.
Isidora Hrnjak took a 6-0, 6-0 victory in no. 1 singles over Theresa Price.
Alejandra Parra won her no. 2 singles match, 6-2, 6-3 over Sasha Richards. In no. 3 singles,
Priyanshi Sharma defeated Samantha Worthington, 6-2, 6-0.
Paula Persson won her no. 4 singles match 6-1, 6-0 over Paige Willcoxon.
Lily Keimig fell in her no. 5 singles match 6-4, 6-4, to Maddie Ketcham.
Ottawa's no. 1 doubles team of Persson and Sharma won their match 6-1 over Price and Willcoxon. Hrnjak and Parra took a 6-1 victory in no. 2 doubles over Worthington and Richards.
The Braves (1-0) will now travel to North Kansas City, Mo. on Sunday, Feb. 12 to play no. 22 William Woods University at the Northland Racquet Club. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
