(RV)MLAX Drops First Game of Season to No. 4 Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ken. -- The Ottawa men's lacrosse team lost a tough game on the road to the Cumberland's (KY) team with a final score of 14-7. 

Ottawa started strong in the first quarter with two goals from Vincent DeMarco and Robert Roseberry. The Braves defense was stingy in the opening period, only allowing one goal by the Patriots, coming from Will Rogers that was assisted by Christian Vanover. The first quarter ended with a score of 2-1 in favor of Ottawa.

The second quarter saw a strong push from the Cumberland's team with seven goals, including four in quick succession. Ottawa managed to score two goals, but the second quarter ended with a score of 8-4 in favor of Cumberland's.

In the third quarter, both teams traded goals, with Ottawa scoring two and Cumberland's scoring four. The quarter ended with a score of 12-6 in favor of Cumberland's. The fourth quarter saw Ottawa score one goal, but Cumberland's responded with two more goals to end the game with a score of 14-7.

Vincent DeMarco and Reid McDowel scored two goals each for Ottawa, while Ethan NewMyer, Robert Roseberry, and Joshua Curving added one goal each. Dawson Coltran scored four goals for Cumberland's, while Nick Kava and Christian Vanover added three goals each..

The Ottawa men's lacrosse team's next game is on March 15, 2023, against the Siena Heights in Adrian, Michigan.
