Baseball Takes Game 1 Against Friends, 6-0

WICHITA, Kan. – The Ottawa University baseball team opened its three game series against Friends University with a 6-0 victory over the Falcons on Friday afternoon.

Ottawa broke the 0-0 tie in the top of the third inning. Zachary Spradlin hit a triple to left. Jonah Weisner scored Spradlin with his ground out to second and OU had a 1-0 lead.

The Braves increased their lead over the Falcons in the top of the fifth. Nicholas Sizemore reached first on a bunt single to the pitcher. Spradlin made it to first on a miscue by the Falcon first baseman, moving courtesy runner Alex Kuhn to second. Weisner's single to right scored Kuhn and OU had a 2-0 lead.

Ottawa pushed two more runs across home plate. Cole Broughton scored Weisner with a single to center and Pedro Astacio's single to right scored Tyler Farnham to give the Braves a 4-0 lead.

Ottawa added two more runs in the top of the seventh. Spradlin singled and Weisner hit a two-run home run to give OU a 6-0 lead.

OU pitcher, Tyler Bryant, only allowed one Falcon base runner in Friends' final three at bats in the game and OU took the 6-0 victory.
