MCPHERSON, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's tennis team won its fifth straight match with a 4-3 victory over McPherson College on Thursday afternoon at the Bulldog Tennis Center. The Bulldogs took the doubles point, 2-1 but the Braves had a record of 4-2 in singles to take the match.
Mariam Alli-Bologun and
Alejandra Parra fell 6-2 in no. 1 doubles to Grace Maxey and Kendra. Ottawa tied doubles
Isidora Hrnjak and
Lily Keimig's victory in no. 3 doubles over Vanessa Hofer and Maddison Dobson, 6-3. The Bulldogs took the doubles point with a win in no. 2 doubles. Paula Pearsson and
Priyanshi Sharma fell 7-6 to Camila Sanchez and Kayla Oritz.
Ottawa tied the match with
Priyanshi Sharma's 6-1, 6-2 win in no. 3 singles over Hofer. McPherson retook the lead, 2-1, with its victory in no.1 singles. Alli-Bologun fell 6-2, 6-4 to Sanchez. The Bulldogs extended its lead to 3-1 with the win in no. 2 singles. Hrnjak lost 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 to Grace Maxey. The Braves then rallied. Persson won her no. 4 singles match, 6-2, 6-4 over Oritz to get OU within 3-2. Parra's 2-6, 7-6, 6-4 win in no. 5 singles over Maples tied the match, 3-3. Keimig's victory in no. 6 singles clinched the match for the Braves. She defeated Dobson 6-2, 7-5 to give OU the 4-3 victory.
Ottawa (11-3, 7-1) returns to action on Saturday, April 22 in Forest Park against Kansas Wesleyan University. The match will begin at 1:00 p.m.
