(16) Softball Travels to Sterling on Thursday

Ottawa took two from York University last Saturday in York, Neb., taking game one 7-2 and game two, 13-7.

OU sits atop of the KCAC with a mark of 19-3, one game in front of second place Friends University (18-4). Both teams will play their final conference games on Thursday, Ottawa on the road at Sterling and Friends at home versus Avila.

Madison Bunfill leads the Braves in batting average (.397) and RBI (51). Ashlynn Mercer is the team's leader in ERA (2.79) and strike outs (96).

Ashlyn Mercer is only four strike outs away from 100. She would be the ninth OU pitcher to record 100 strike outs in a season.

Through 43 games, Ottawa has a .293 batting average, a .384 on base percentage, and a .441 slugging percentage. The Braves have hit 29 home runs and scored 270 runs.

Ottawa's 29 home runs are the third most in program history and the most that the Braves have hit since 2015 when OU hit 31 home runs.

The Braves have a record of 49-17 against Sterling College. Ottawa has won 13 straight games against Sterling and 14 straight against the Warriors on the road in Sterling. The last time the Braves fell to the Warriors in Sterling was April 12, 2005. Sterling won the game, 12-5. Ottawa's last loss to Sterling was at Alumni Park on April 27, 2013. The Warriors won the game, 5-4. The first meeting between the two teams happened on April 2, 1996. Ottawa won the game, 6-4.

Ottawa is ranked 29th in the NAIA in runs (270), 40th in doubles, 22nd in home runs (29), 39th in RBI (225), 35th in extra base hits (105), 47th in total bases (501), 13th in walks (143), 24th in hit by pitch (32), 38th in stolen bases (87), 48th in ERA (2.70), 39th in shut outs (9), and 45th in opponent batting average (.243).

Sterling College is 12-24 overall, has a record of 6-14 in the KCAC, is on a four game losing streak, and has a record of 7-9 at home this season. The Warriors have been swept in their last two conference double headers, Tabor College (April 19) and the University of Saint Mary (April 22). Prior to those four losses, the Warriors had been on a four game winning streak with sweeps of Bethel (April 11) and Southwestern (April 13).

Aiyana Campos leads the team in batting average (.483) and Maria Casillas is SC's leader in RBI (22). Alyssa Mason is the Warriors' leader in ERA (4.23) and strike outs (50).

Through 36 games, Sterling has a .308 batting average, a .375 on base percentage, and a .402 slugging percentage. The Warriors have hit 10 home runs and scored 175 runs.

In 16 home games this season, Sterling has a .293 batting average, is scoring 5.1 runs per game, stole 30 bases, and has a .367 on base percentage and a .381 slugging percentage.
