TOPEKA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's tennis team defeated Bethel College, 4-1, in the KCAC Tournament Semifinals on Friday afternoon at the Kossover Tennis Center. Ottawa won the doubles point, 2-0 and had a mark of 3-1 in singles.

Ottawa's no. 3 doubles team of Isidora Hrnjak and Lily Keimig defeated Nalea Payton and Patricia Huerta 6-3 to talk a 1-0 lead in doubles. Priyanshi Sharam and Paula Persson's win in no. 2 doubles gave the Braves the point with their 6-4 victory over Halle Krehbiel and Grace Dawes.

The Braves extended their lead to 2-0 over Bethel with Mariam Alli-Bologun's 6-2, 6-2 win in no. 3 singles over Krehbiel. The Threshers cut OU's lead to 2-1 with Keimig's 6-3, 6-1 loss in no. 6 singles to Huerta. Sharam won her no. 2 singles match, 6-2, 6-3 over Fatima Nemi to give Ottawa the 3-1 lead. The Braves clinched the match with Alejandra Parra's win in no. 5 singles over Jenna Mahoney 6-4, 6-0.

Ottawa (13-3) will now play McPherson College in the KCAC Tournament Championships Match on Saturday April 29 in Topeka, Kan. at the Kossover Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. McPherson upset the no. 1 overall seed, Southwestern College 4-2 in the tournament semifinals.
