OTTAWA, Kan. – The 2023 KCAC Teams have been released the conference office announced on Friday morning. Ottawa University had 13 players earn All-KCAC honors and OU earned three of the four individual awards for women's flag football.
Madysen Carrera was named KCAC Player of the Year,
Abby Brown earned KCAC Defensive Player of the Year honors, and
Liz Sowers was named KCAC Coach of the Year.
Madysen Carrera, a junior quarterback from Riverview, Fla., was named KCAC Player of the Year for the third season in a row. She was a First Team All-KCAC selection at quarterback and was three-times named KCAC Offensive Player of the Week. In 12 games this year, Carrera has rushed for 604 yards and scored eight rushing touchdowns. She has also thrown for 2,674 yards and 50 touchdowns. Carrera is completing 71 percent of her passes and averaging 222.8 passing yards per game.
Abby Brown, a junior linebacker from Rantoul, Kan., earned KCAC Defensive Player of the Year honors for the third straight season. She was named First Team All-KCAC at linebacker and earned KCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors once this season. Brown has 59 flag pulls, one flag pull for loss, seven interceptions, and six pass break ups.
Addison Orsborn, a sophomore utility player from Round Rock, Texas, earned First Team All-KCAC honors for the second straight season. This season it was as a utility player. Orsborn has three rushing attempts for 15 yards and four receptions for 29 yards. She also had two receiving touchdowns. On defense, Orsborn has 30 flag pulls, three sacks, and five pass break ups. She was named KCAC Defensive Player of the Week once this past season.
Jazlyn Camacho, a junior receiver and punter from Las Vegas, Nev., was named First Team All-KCAC at receiver for the third straight season. She also was named Second Team All-KCAC at punter for the second straight season. Camacho has 41 receptions for 649 yards and 16 touchdowns this season. She is averaging 59 receiving yards per game. Camacho has 14 punts for an average of 28.6 yards. She has eight that have been downed inside the 20 yard line.
Susann Kaufmann, a junior defensive back from Staten Island, N.Y., earned First Team All-KCAC honors in her first season in an OU uniform. She is second on the team in flag pulls with 34. Kaufmann has nine tackles for loss, eight sacks, two interceptions, and one pass break up.
Alyssa Linkous, a junior from receiver and center from Owings, Md., was named First Team All-KCAC at receiver for the third straight season. She also earned First Team honors at center. This season, Linkous has 49 receptions for 621 yards and 11 touchdowns. She is averaging 56.5 receiving yards per game.
Mandolyn Scalisi, a junior screen blocker from Las Vegas, Nev., earned First Team All-KCAC honors for the second time in her collegiate career. She was a First Team selection as a screen blocker her freshman season. This season she has 35 receptions for 375 yards and five touchdowns. Scalisi is averaging 31.3 receiving yards per game.
Dejonice Parris, a senior linebacker from Hollywood, Fla., was named Second Team All-KCAC. She earned KCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors once this past season. Parris is second on the team in flag pulls with 32 and has five sacks.
Bailey Hodgins, a sophomore receiver from Canton, Ga., was named Second Team All-KCAC this season after earning Honorable Mention honors last season as a freshman. She has 37 receptions for 394 yards and six touchdowns. Hodgins averages 35.8 receiving yards per game.
Faron Malouff, a sophomore defensive back from Riverview, Fla., earned All-KCAC honors for the second straight season with her Second Team selection. She has 22 flag pulls, five interceptions, and five pass break ups.
Nina GraveDePeralta, a junior defensive back from Las Vegas, Nev., was named to her second straight All-KCAC Team with her Second Team selection. GraveDePeralta has 23 flag pulls, one flag pull for loss, four interceptions, and three pass break ups.
Tatiana Dos Santos, a freshman receiver from Panama City, Panama, earned Honorable Mention All-KCAC honors in her first collegiate season. She has 27 receptions for 286 yards, five touchdowns, and is averaging 23.8 receiving yards per game.
Hailee McKay, a junior defensive back from Henderson, Nev., was named to the All-KCAC Teams for the third straight season with her Honorable Mention selection. She has 19 flag pulls, three interceptions, and five pass break ups.
Liz Sowers was named KCAC Coach of the Year for the third straight season. She has led the Braves to an overall record of 12-0, a KCAC record of 9-0, and the program's third straight KCAC regular season championships. In her three seasons, Sowers has coached the Braves to a 2021 and 2022 Women's Flag Finals Championships, three KCAC regular season championships, and two KCAC Tournament championships.
Ottawa plays the winner of the Cottey College and the University of Saint Mary game at 4:00 p.m. in the KCAC Tournament semifinals at Paragon Star in Lee's Summit, Mo.
