OTTAWA, Kan. - The Ottawa lacrosse team faced a tough defeat against No. 3 Webber International (FL) with a final score of 7-11 in a thrilling match for Senior Day at AventHealth Field on Saturday afternoon.
The game started off with a close first quarter, with both teams exchanging goals. Vincent DeMarco and Jake Noernberg were the leading scorers for Ottawa in the first quarter, with DeMarco netting two goals and Noernberg adding one. Webber International (FL) responded with goals from Jeremiah Loo and Houston Finlayson, ending the first quarter in a 3-3 tie.
Webber International (FL) gained momentum in the second quarter, taking control of the game with four unanswered goals. Nick Sheaffer was the standout player for Webber International (FL), scoring three goals in the second quarter, while Ottawa's Jacob Vincentini found the back of the net for the Braves. The score at halftime was 8-4 in favor of Webber International (FL).
Despite a valiant effort from Ottawa in the third quarter, with Reid McDowell and Luke Spells scoring goals, Webber International (FL) maintained their lead with Dillon Ziemba scoring a goal for the Warriors. In the fourth quarter, Robert Roseberry added another goal for Ottawa, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit. Jeremiah Loo scored his second goal of the game for Webber International (FL), securing their victory with a final score of 11-7.
