OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's basketball program is pleased to announce the signing of Tyree Allen for the 2023-24 season. She is from New Haven, Conn. and is transferring from NCAA Division II Post University. Allen spent her first two seasons at NCAA Division I, Coppin State University.
At Post University, Allen played in 38 games and made 19 starts. She averaged 7.7 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. Allen shot 40 percent from the floor, 33 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 77 percent from the free throw line. She scored in double figures in 22 games. Allen was twice named to the weekly honor roll.
While attending Coppin State University, Allen played in 36 games and made nine starts. She averaged 3.5 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. Allen shot 29.4 percent from the floor, 22.9 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 61 percent from the free throw line.
Allen attended James Hillhouse High School, lettering in basketball. She helped her team to a 2019 state championship, finishing with a record of 24-4. Allen was a two-time All-Area selection and twice was named First Team SCC. She was named MVP of the championship game in 2019 and earned scholar athlete of the year honors. Allen averaged 15 points, six assists, and five rebounds per game.
Allen is the daughter of Stacey Allen and plans earn her MBA with a concentration in population health management. Her brother, Tavon Allen, played at Drexel University and graduated in 2016. Allen's stepfather, Maurice Williamson played college basketball at LSU. Her grandfather, Super John Williamson, played for the ABA/NBA's New Jersey (Brooklyn) Nets.
