KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jamestown (N.D.) opens the 2023 season at No. 1 in the NAIA Women's Volleyball preseason coaches' Top 25 rating after the team claimed its first title in 2022.
The Ottawa University women's volleyball team had an overall record of 25-11 and a KCAC record of 12-0 in 2022. The Braves finished the season ranked 29th in the NAIA in kills (1601), 48th in kills per set (12.6), 15th in total attacks (4881), 41st in attacking percentage (.205), 28th in assists (1493), 49th in assists per set (11.7), 15th in digs (2320), 30th in digs per set (18.2), 33rd in solo blocks (85), 42nd in block assists (348), and 31st in total blocks (259).
Rating Methodology
- The rating was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents/unaffiliated groups.
- The Coaches Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place and so on through the list.
- The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team's ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
- Teams that receive only one point on the ballot are not considered "receiving votes"
