STERLING, Kan. – The Ottawa University football team fell 27-21 to Sterling College on Saturday afternoon at Smisor Stadium.
The Braves struck first, taking a 7-0 lead on their second offensive possession of the game.
Taylor Eggers threw a 23 yard touchdown pass to
De'Anthony Curtis. The extra point kick by
Rhett Andersen was good and OU led 7-0 with 8:29 to go in the first quarter.
Sterling responded by scoring 27 straight points, taking a 27-7 lead at the half.
Ottawa cut into the Warrior lead with 11:39 to go in the fourth quarter. Eggers threw a five yard touchdown pass to
Keavian Long. Andersen's extra point kick was good and OU trailed 27-14.
After a defensive stop by the OU defense, Ottawa cut into the Sterling lead. The Braves scored another touchdown on a seven yard touchdown pass from Eggers to Long and with 5:10 on the clock, Ottawa was within 27-21.
OU's defense forced a Warrior punt and the Braves took over on their own 35 yard line with 3:12 left in regulation. Ottawa did not have the ball for long. Eggers threw his second interception of the game and Sterling took over on its own 24 yard line with 2:42 on the clock.
The Warriors ran out the clock, taking the 27-21 victory.
