Men's Volleyball Falls to UHSP, 3-0

OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's volleyball team fell 3-0; 25-12, 25-23, 25-18; to UHSP in Wilson Field House on Friday night.

How it Happened
  • The Eutectics took a 10-7 lead over the Braves in set one. A kill by Nazmi Bayoglu put OU within 12-8. OU was not able to cut into the UHSP's lead and the Eutectics took the 25-12 victory.
  • Ottawa led 6-1 in set no. 2 after a kill by Akeil Williams. UHSP rallied, cutting OU's lead to 11-9. The Braves were able to increase their lead to 17-13 after a kill by Francis Rivera and a Eutectic attacking error. UHSP continued to chip away at the Brave lead and tied the set 22-22. Ottawa retook the lead on the next point, a Grant Younie kill, 23-22. UHSP, however, was able to score the next three points and took the 25-23 victory.
  • The teams exchanged points at the start of set three. Ottawa took a 5-4 lead on a kill by Andrew Salinas. UHSP retook the lead 7-6 but that did not last long. A kill by Rivera and a UHSP service error gave the Braves an 8-7 lead. The set continued to go back and forth with OU taking a 14-13 lead. The Eutectics were able to put some space between themselves and the Braves. They scored the next five points, taking an 18-14 lead. Ottawa responded by scoring the next three points, thanks to service aces by Salinas, cutting the deficit to 18-17. That is all the closer the Braves would get to UHSP. The Eutectics finished the set on a 6-1 run, taking the 25-18 victory.
