LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's tennis team defeated Concordia University 6-1 on Friday afternoon at Genesis South.

Valeria Rodriguez and Alejandra Parra defeated Lauren Gottberg and Brooke Hosick in no. 3 doubles to give the Braves a 1-0 lead in the double point. Priyanshi Sharma and Paula Persson's 6-2 victory in no. 1 doubles over Chakira Derman and Tessa Blough gave the Braves the doubles point, 2-0. Isidora Hrnjak and Lily Keimig took a 6-2 victory in no. 2 doubles over Alana Lopez-Pagan and Mariana Molano.

Ottawa increased its lead to 2-0 with Rodriguez's 6-1, 6-2 win in no. 4 singles over Alexa Richert. Sharam's 6-3, 6-2 win over Derman in no. 1 singles gave OU a 3-0 lead over the Bulldogs. Ottawa clinched the match with Hrnjak's 6-0, 6-3 win in no. 3 singles against Blough, 4-0. Persson was defeated 6-2, 2-6, 13-11 by Molano in no. 2 singles. Parra won her no. 5 singles match against Lopez-Pagan 6-4, 6-2. Keimig took a 6-3, 7-6 victory in no. 6 singles over Hosick.

OU (2-1) is on the road on Saturday, Feb. 17 against Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. The match is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
