COLUMBIA, Mo. – The (17) Ottawa University softball team split with Columbia College on Wednesday afternoon. Ottawa fell in game one, 4-1 but rebounded to take game two, 7-2.
Game One
Columbia took a 1-0 lead over the Braves in the bottom of the second inning. The Braves tied the game in the top of the fifth.
Macey Morris singled to center and then swiped second.
Macy Roever moved Morris to third with a bunt single. On the throw, Morris scored, and the game was tied 1-0.
The Cougars answered in the bottom of the fifth with two runs, retaking the lead 3-1. Columbia pushed one more run across home plate in the bottom of the sixth, increasing its lead to a 4-1.
In the top of the seventh,
Megan Kennedy singled to center to give OU a runner on with one out. The Braves were not able rally and Columbia took the 4-1 victory.

Game Two
Ottawa took the lead in the top of the second inning.
Morgan Bradford tripled to right and scored on a ground out to third by
Megan Kennedy, giving OU a 1-0 lead.
The Cougars answered in their bottom half of the second, tying the game at 1-1. Columbia then took the lead with a run in the bottom of the third, 2-1. The score stayed 2-1 in favor of the Cougars until the top of the fifth.
Macy Roever led off the inning with a bunt single. She then stole second and moved to third after a throwing error by the Cougar short stop.
Addison Spencer grounded out to second, scoring Roever and the game was tied 2-2.
Katie Enneking reached on a walk. She stole second and scored on an error by the Cougar third baseman, giving OU a 3-2 lead. Ottawa scored one more run in the inning.
Nayely Delgado doubled to center, scoring Hammons to increase OU's lead to 4-2.
In the top of the seventh, OU pushed three insurance runs across home plate. Enneking singled to right and Hafenstine bunted. She reached first safely moving Enneking to second. Hammons tripled to right, scoring both Hafenstine and Enneking to increase the OU lead to 6-2. Ottawa scored one more run in the inning. Delgado walked the pitch got to the backstop and Hammons scored, giving OU a 7-2 lead.
Ottawa quieted the Cougar bats in the bottom of the seventh, three up and three down for Columbia, and OU took the 7-2 victory.
