Box Score Atchison, Kan.- The Ottawa women's lacrosse team opened their season with a loss as they fell to ninth ranked Benedictine by a score of 4-20 on Saturday afternoon in Atchison.
Benedictine got off to a hot start early, scoring six and five goals in the first two periods and holding the Braves scoreless, giving them an 11-0 halftime lead. Ottawa found the back of the net three times in the third period, each by
Mackenzie Simmons. However, the Ravens scored four of their own. In the fourth period, Ottawa scored one, again by Simmons, while Benedictine scored five.
Mackenzie Simmons scored all four goals for the Braves. Felecia led the team in groundballs with three, and
Shelby Bearden made ten saves.
Ottawa returns to the field tomorrow at 4 PM as they face Quincy University, played at Missouri Western State University.
