WINFIELD, Kan. – The Ottawa University baseball team has won four straight games, after sweeping the double header with Southwestern College on Saturday afternoon. OU won game one of the DH in seven innings, 12-1, and took game two 7-5, in eight innings.
Game One
Ottawa broke the 0-0 tie with eight runs in the top of the second inning. Southwestern scored one run to cut OU's lead to 8-1.
In the top of the fifth, the Braves pushed three more runs across home plate.
Anthony Soria singled up the middle. A single to left by
Tyler Farnham moved Soria 90 feet from home.
Cole Broughton scored Soria with a single to center, and OU led 9-1.
Brent Swearingen's single to left scored both Broughton and Farnham, increasing the OU lead to 11-1.
The Braves scored one more run in the top of the seventh. Farnham and Swearingen reached base after being plunked by the SWC pitcher.
Dylan Garcia's single to left scored Farnham and OU took the 12-1 victory.

Game Two
Ottawa took the lead in the top of the first inning.
Cole Broughton singled to right and then moved to second on a ground out by
Brent Swearingen.
Dylan Garcia moved Broughton to third with a fly out.
Jackson Alaniz singled up the middle, scoring Broughton and the Braves lead 1-0.
The Braves increased their lead with a run in the top of the third. Swearingen doubled to right. Alaniz's ground out moved Swearingen into scoring position. A passed ball by the SWC catcher scored Swearingen and Ottawa had a 2-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth, Ottawa extended its lead over Southwestern. After a Moundbuilder pitching change,
Anthony Soria hit his first home run of the season, increasing the OU lead to 3-0.
Southwestern rallied, scoring one run in the bottom of the fourth and two in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game, 3-3.
The Braves retook the lead in the top of the seventh.
Johnny Vulcano hit his sixth home run of the season, giving OU a 4-3 lead.
Blaine Thomas then walked and swiped second. Soria doubled to right, scoring Thomas and OU led 5-3.
Southwestern rallied once more, answering in the bottom of the seventh with two runs to tie the game 5-5, sending the game went into extra innings.
Ottawa responded in the top of the eighth.
Dylan Garcia was hit by pitch and
Jeremy Freeman, Jr. entered as a pinch runner. After a flyout by Alaniz, Vulcano connected on his second home run of the game, giving the Braves a 7-5 lead.
The Moundbuilders, with two outs, were able to load the bases.
Flynn Ridley entered in relief. He struck out Logan Gage, ending the SWC scoring threat and OU took the 7-5 victory.
