OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's flag football team moved to 4-0 on the season with a 75-0 victory over Cottey College on Wednesday night at AdventHealth Field.
The Braves received the ball to start the game. It only took one play for Ottawa to find the end zone.
Madysen Carrera threw a 66 yard touchdown pass to
Marley Spielberg the extra point attempt was good and with 11:48 left in the game, Ottawa led 7-0.
On Cottey's first offensive possession of the game, the Comets went for it on fourth and one from its own 19 yard line. The fourth down pass was broken up by
Abby Brown and OU's offense took over on downs.
One play later, Carrera threw a 19 yard touchdown pass to
Cynthia Homs. The extra point attempt was good and the Braves had a 14-0 lead with 9:39 left in the first quarter.
The OU defense forced a Cottey punt and the Brave offense took over on its own 39 yard line. Unlike the first two scoring drives, this one took three plays for OU to cross the goal line. Carrera threw an eight yard touchdown pass to
Jaida Bayron, giving OU a 20-0 lead with 6:07 remaining in the first quarter.
Cottey was forced to punt again and the Braves took over on the Comet 34 yard line. Carrera threw a 17 yard touchdown pass to Homs. The extra point attempt was good and with 2:56 left in the first, Ottawa led 27-0.
The Comets next offensive drive was their best of the night. Cottey moved the ball to the OU five yard line. On fourth and five,
Leilani Caamal broke up the pass and the Braves took over on downs with 9:28 left in the half.
The OU offense put together its longest drive of the night, 7 plays and 75 yards, that ended in a Carrera touchdown pass to
Randrea Gamble. The extra point attempt was good and the Braves had a 34-0 lead with 5:10 remaining in the first half.
The Braves forced another Comet punt and with 2:50 left in the half, Ottawa took over on its own 22 yard line. The OU offense put together another scoring drive, this one seven plays and 58 yards. Carrera thew a nine yard touchdown pass to Bayron. The extra point attempt was good and the Braves took a 41-0 lead into the locker room.
In the second half, the OU defense forced four Cottey punts, picked off CC twice, and had one turnover on downs. The Brave scored five touchdowns in the second half, taking the 75-0 victory.
