SPRINGFIELD, Mo. –  The Ottawa University women's tennis team defeated Evangel University 7-0 on Monday at the Cooper Tennis Complex.

The Braves took a 1-0 lead in the doubles point with Isidora Hrnjak and Lily Keimig's 6-2 win over Danecca Heffren and Courtney Yates in no. 3 doubles. Alejandra Parra and Paula Persson won their no. 2 doubles contest, 6-2, over Carly McAtee and Alexia Phipps to give Ottawa the doubles point. Valeria Rodriguez and Priyanshi Sharma were defeated 6-4 in no. 1 doubles.

Parra won her no. 3 singles match 6-3, 6-3 against Phipps to give OU a 2-0 lead. Hrnjak's 6-2, 6-4 win in no. 1 singles over Rachel Chaney gave the Braves a 3-0 lead. Sharma's 6-2, 6-3 victory in no. 2 singles against Abigail Chaney captured the match for the Braves, 4-0. Persson defeated McAtee 6-2, 6-0 in no. 4 singles. Rodriguez took a 6-1, 6-0 in no. 5 singles and Keimig won her no. 6 singles match 6-3, 6-1.

Ottawa (6-3, 2-0) is back in action on Saturday, March 23 against Sterling College in Sterling, Kan. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
