STERLING, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's tennis team gave Sterling College its first loss of the season with a 7-0 victory on Saturday afternoon at the SC Tennis Facility.
Alejandra Parra and
Paula Persson won their no. 1 doubles match 6-3 over Sofia Tominaga and Ana Alvarez to give the Braves a 1-0 lead in the doubles point.
Isidora Hrnjak and
Lily Keimig won their no. 3 doubles match 6-1 over Giovana Gaboardi and Camila Castro, giving OU the doubles point, 2-0.
Valeria Rodriguez and
Priyanshi Sharma defeated Rachel Carlson and Nadia Margaritov 6-3 in no. 2 doubles.
Rodriguez's 6-1, 6-1 win in no. 4 singles over Carlson increased the Brave lead to 2-0. Parra won her no. 3 singles match 6-4, 7-5 over Margaritov and Ottawa had a 3-0 lead. Sharma's 7-5, 6-4 victory in no. 2 singles against Alvarez wrapped up the match for the Braves, 4-0. Hrnjak took a 6-4, 7-5 victory in no. 1 singles over Tominaga. Persson defeated Gaboardi 7-6 (3), 6-1 in no. 5 singles and Keimig won her no. 6 singles match 6-3, 6-4 over Castro.
Ottawa (7-3, 3-0) returns to the court on Monday, March 25 in Forest Park against Southwestern College. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
