OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's tennis team won its fifth straight match and moved to a perfect 9-0 in the KCAC with a 4-3 win over Bethel on Saturday morning in Forest Park.

Valeria Rodriguez and Priyanshi Sharm's 6-4 win in no. 2 doubles over Patricia Huerta and Nalea Payton gave OU a 1-0 lead in the doubles point. Alejandra Parra and Paula Persson took a 7-5 victory in no. 1 doubles over Daniela Casique and Halle Krehbiel to clinch the doubles point for the Braves, 2-0. Isidora Hrnjak and Lily Keimig won their no. 3 doubles match 6-1 over Charis Yager and Grace Dawes.

Sharam's 6-2, 6-3 win over Casique in no. 1 singles gave OU a 2-0 lead. Hrnjak took a 6-0, 3-6, 6-1 victory in no. 2 singles against Dawes to increase the OU lead to 3-0. Bethel cut into the Brave lead in no. 4 singles. Parra retired and Bethel was within 3-1. Persson fell in three sets to Krehbiel 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 to put the Threshers down one, 3-2. Rodriguez wrapped up the match for the Braves with her no. 5 singles win 6-4, 6-4 over Payton, 4-2. Keimig lost her no. 6 singles match 6-4, 6-3 to Huerta.

Ottawa (13-4, 9-0) returns to the court on Thursday, April 18 against (RV) McPherson College in Forest Park. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
