LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – The (RV) Ottawa University softball team split with the University of Saint Mary on Wednesday afternoon. The Spires won game one, 3-2, but OU rebounded to take game two, 7-5.
Game One
The Braves broke the scoreless tie in the top of the third inning.
Megan Kennedy reached second on an error by the USM third baseman.
Macy Roever doubled to right center, scoring Kennedy and OU led 1-0. Roever then swiped third and OU had a runner 60 feet from home.
Addison Spencer put the ball in play, scoring Roever and OU led 2-0.
The Spires tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, 2-2. After a scoreless fifth, USM took its first lead of the game in the bottom of the sixth on a Brave miscue, 3-2. Ottawa was not able to rally in the top of the seventh and the Spires took the 3-2 victory.

Game Two
University of Saint Mary struck first, taking a 1-0 lead over the Braves with a run in the bottom of the first inning. That is where the score stayed until the top of the fifth inning.
Macy Roever led off with a double down the right field line.
Addison Spencer reached first on an error by the USM shortstop and Roever moved to third.
Katie Enneking's fielders choice scored Roever and the game was tied 1-1.
Reagan Hammons connected on a two run shot, giving OU a 3-1 lead.
Ottawa increased its lead in the top of the sixth.
Morgan Bradford doubled to left.
Rachel Pederson scored Bradford with a double and OU had a 4-1 lead. Another double, this one by Spencer, scored Pederson and the Braves led 5-1. An Enneking single to center scored Spencer, increasing the Brave lead to 6-1. The Braves scored their final run of the inning on
Kara Hafenstine's RBI triple and the Braves led 7-1.
Saint Mary cut into the Brave lead with four runs in the bottom of the sixth, 7-5. In the bottom of the seventh, USM tried to rally. The Spires had a runner on third, Natalie Bruce, and one out.
Takiya Hill got USM's Grace Rose to pop out to Hafenstine in shallow right field. Bruce crossed home plate but Ottawa appealed. The umpire ruled that she had left early, and OU took the 7-5 victory.
