OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University baseball team split with (RV) Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Park. Ottawa won game two on a two run, walk off, home run by
Nicholas Sizemore in the bottom of the seventh inning 6-5. OKWU won game one, 11-6.
Game One
Oklahoma Wesleyan struck first, taking a 5-0 lead over the Braves in the top of the first inning. Ottawa cut into the deficit in the bottom of the second.
Dylan Garcia singled up the middle, giving OU a runner on first.
Liam Vulcano hit his first home run of the season over the center field fence and the Braves were down, 5-2.
The Eagles answered by scoring two runs in the top of the third, taking a 7-2 lead over OU. In the bottom of the third, Ottawa chipped away at the OKWU lead.
Tyler Farnham walked and then moved to second after a walk by
Blaine Thomas. A passed ball moved Farnham to third and Thomas to second.
Marcellus Pearson scored Farnham with a single to left and the Braves trailed 7-3.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Braves were able to get within a run of OKWU. Farnham walked and
Cole Broughton was hit by a pitch.
Jackson Alaniz hit home run no. 3 and OU was within 7-6.
The Braves had runners get into scoring position in the seventh and eighth innings but were not able to get the tying run across home plate.
In the ninth, the Eagles scored four runs to take an 11-6 lead over OU. The Braves were not able to rally and OKWU took the 11-6 victory.

Game Two
The Eagles scored two runs in the top of the first to take the early lead over the Braves. Ottawa responded with three runs in the bottom of the second.
Nicholas Sizemore doubled and
Jeremy Freeman, Jr. entered as a courtesy runner.
Marcellus Pearson doubled to right, scoring Freeman and Ottawa was within 2-1.
Brent Swearingen reached first with a bunt, scoring Pearson to tie the game at two all.
Anthony Soria's ground out to short, scored
Dylan Garcia and Ottawa took the lead, 3-2.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Braves extended their lead over the Eagles. Farnham singled to right and scored on a double to right center by Thomas, giving OU a 4-2 lead.
OKWU rallied in the top of seventh, scoring three runs to take a 5-4 lead over OU. Ottawa answered in the bottom of the seventh. With two outs,
Blaine Thomas singled to right field, bringing the winning run to the plate. On the third pitch of Sizemore's at bat, he connected on his fourth home run of the season and OU won 6-5.
