(RV) Softball Downs Kansas Wesleyan, 4-1

GREAT BEND, Kan. – The (RV) Ottawa University softball team is moving on in the KCAC Tournament after defeating Kansas Wesleyan University 4-1 on Wednesday morning at the Great Bend Sports Complex.

Ottawa struck first, taking the lead in the bottom of the first inning. Macy Roever led off the Braves with a walk. Addison Spencer's ground out to first advanced Roever to second. Katie Enneking's double down the right field line scored Roever and the Braves had a 1-0 lead. Cierra Faubion scored two more runs with a double down the left field line and OU had a 3-0 lead.

That is where the score stayed until the top of the fifth. Kansas Wesleyan scored a run, cutting OU's lead to 3-1. In the bottom of the fifth, the Braves earned that run back. Spencer walked and Elizabeth Palmer entered as a pinch runner. She quickly stole second and then moved to third on a throwing error by the KWU catcher. A wild pitch by the KWU pitcher scored Palmer and the Braves led 4-1.

The OU defense only allowed one KWU player to reach base in the Coyotes final two at bats and OU took the 4-1 victory.
