GREAT BEND, Kan. – The (RV) Ottawa University softball team is moving on in the KCAC Tournament after defeating Kansas Wesleyan University 4-1 on Wednesday morning at the Great Bend Sports Complex.
Ottawa struck first, taking the lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Macy Roever led off the Braves with a walk.
Addison Spencer's ground out to first advanced Roever to second.
Katie Enneking's double down the right field line scored Roever and the Braves had a 1-0 lead.
Cierra Faubion scored two more runs with a double down the left field line and OU had a 3-0 lead.
That is where the score stayed until the top of the fifth. Kansas Wesleyan scored a run, cutting OU's lead to 3-1. In the bottom of the fifth, the Braves earned that run back. Spencer walked and
Elizabeth Palmer entered as a pinch runner. She quickly stole second and then moved to third on a throwing error by the KWU catcher. A wild pitch by the KWU pitcher scored Palmer and the Braves led 4-1.
The OU defense only allowed one KWU player to reach base in the Coyotes final two at bats and OU took the 4-1 victory.

- Cierra Faubion led OU with two RBI and Katie Ennenking had one RBI.
- Ashlynn Mercer earned her 16th victory of the season. She struck out six and only allowed four hits.
