OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's basketball snapped its 10-game losing streak with a 79-62 victory over York University on Saturday afternoon in Wilson Field House. The win is OU's 16
th straight over the Panthers.
Ottawa trailed York 14-4 with 5:25 left in the first quarter. The Braves erupted with a 35-10 run and with 3:30 left in the second quarter, led 39-24. OU's defense remained stifling for the remainder of the half and the Braves took a 48-28 lead into the locker room.
OU pushed its lead to 27 points, taking a 63-36 lead on a 3-pt play by
Abbie Sextro at the start of the third quarter. A
Tiyani Rollins' jumper gave the Braves a 30 point lead, 74-44, with 54 seconds remaining in the third quarter. YU was able to score the final basket of the third and Ottawa had a 74-46 lead at the start of the fourth.
In the fourth, York never threatened the Brave lead. Ottawa was able to clear its bench, taking the 79-62 victory.
