Luke Edwards to
Key Long with 36 seconds left to secure the win in a back-and-forth KCAC matchup.
First Half
After a scoreless first quarter highlighted by defensive stands and turnovers on both sides, the Braves struck first early in the second.
Cooper Parsons capped a 68-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown run, putting Ottawa on top 7-0.
Tabor responded midway through the quarter with a one-yard score from quarterback Ahmad Bailey, tying the game 7-7. Ottawa quickly regained the lead on the next drive as
Anthony Powell found the end zone from nine yards out, and
Ike Prengel's extra point gave the Braves a 14-7 advantage at halftime.
Second Half
The Bluejays evened the score at 14-14 midway through the third when Bailey punched in his second rushing touchdown from a yard out after Ottawa's third interception of the day.
The Braves answered just before the end of the third quarter with an efficient 13-play, 79-yard drive. Edwards connected with
AJ Moore for a 12-yard touchdown to reclaim a 21-14 lead heading into the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
Tabor tied the game for the third time with 4:28 remaining, as Bailey scored his third touchdown of the contest on another one-yard keeper to make it 21-21.
Ottawa then pieced together its most crucial drive of the day—13 plays for 60 yards—culminating with Edwards finding
Key Long on a 30-yard strike with 36 seconds remaining. Prengel's fourth PAT sealed the 28-21 win.
By the Numbers
- Luke Edwards completed 23 of 36 passes for 274 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. He also added 40 yards rushing.
