OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's wrestling team will head to the Grand View Open on Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa.
Ottawa fell to the Baker Wildcats, 34-17, on Thursday in Wilson Field House.
Asher Larson won an 8-4 decision over Niko Gonzalez in the 141lb weight division. Thomas Webb secured an 18-12 decision victory over Nakkos Benton in the 157lb weight class.
Spencer Rochelle took down Keegan Troutman by a fall in the 174lb weight class.
Julian Gorring won on a technical fall over Eli Messik in the 184lb weight division.
OU competed at the Baker Open on November 9
th.
Kallen Koelzer won one match in the 125lb weight division.
Jayden Nowell placed third overall in the 133lb weight class, Nowell won four matches including a 9-5 decision win in the third-place match.
Asher Larson and
Blaine Turpin each defeated one opponent in the 141lb weight class.
Colston Parks won two matches in the 157lb weight class.
Cale Hein and
Zach Thomas each one match in the 157lb weight class as well.
Andrew Smith took down one opponent in the 165lb.
Spencer Rochelle secured two wins in the 174lb weight class.
Jaelyn Sides won three matches in the 184lb weight class to finish fourth overall.
Jaron Alf won one match in the 184lb and
Stevie Elwell won one also in the 285lb.
The Braves last competed at the Grand View Open in 2023.
