NEVADA, Mo. - The Ottawa University women's basketball team delivered a wire-to-wire performance on Tuesday night, overpowering Cottey College 75–40 at Hinkhouse to secure a decisive non-conference road win.
First Quarter
Ottawa's half-court defense controlled the opening period, holding Cottey to just five points on 7.7 percent shooting (1-13).
Ashlynn Arnsman scored the Braves' first four points, and a late jumper from
Aaliyah Brown sent OU into the break ahead 14–5. Ottawa opened the game by dominating the boards, securing 10 first-quarter rebounds while forcing three turnovers.
Second Quarter
Hailey Rademan ignited the Braves in the second frame, scoring seven points while knocking down a three. Ottawa stretched the lead as
Molly Martin and
Dominique Schutte each connected from deep, helping the Braves outscore Cottey 16–12 in the period. OU took a 30–17 advantage into halftime, powered by 33% shooting and an 11–6 edge on the glass in the quarter.
Third Quarter
Ottawa delivered its most explosive offensive stretch coming out of halftime, putting up 27 points on 50% shooting (10-20). Arnsman continued her strong night with 7 more points in the quarter, while
McKinley Kruger and Rademan added timely mid-range jumpers. The Braves' defensive pressure forced seven Cottey turnovers in the period, and a Martin jumper late in the quarter pushed the lead to 57–32 heading into the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
Ottawa closed the game with confidence, hitting 50% from the floor in the final frame and extending the lead to as many as 36 points.
Kaelynn Duncan scored 6 points in the quarter, including a three-pointer, while
Miranda Patterson and
Grace McPhail added key buckets off the bench. The Braves held the Comets to just 8 points in the final 10 minutes, sealing the 35-point win.
