(RV) Women's Lacrosse to Open Season at (5) Benedictine

Ottawa, KAN. - The Ottawa women's lacrosse team opens their season with a non-conference battle at (5) Benedictine.

This season ushers in a new era for the Braves as they join the Heart of America Athletic Conference, along with KCAC members Midland, Missouri Baptist, and UHSP.
The Braves have a roster nineteen strong, which features ten returners and nine newcomers.
Notable returners include KCAC Second-Teamers KaiAnna Senne, Curstin Brown, Isabella Pagliei, and Joslynn Erskine.
Notable departures from last season are KCAC-First Teamers Mackenzie Simmons, Ashley Santillan, Felicia Dixon, and Paulina Pompa. Simmons was also the KCAC Offensive Player of the Year.
Ottawa is coming off a 7-8 2024 season with a 3-1 record in the KCAC.
Benedictine had five players named to NAIA All-American Teams last season. They return First-Teamer Kaylen Moore, Second-Teamers Chanterra Allen and Sofia Juergensmeyer, and Third-Teamer Kiera Russell.
Benedictine is 2-0 on the season with a 21-11 win over NCAA Division II William Jewell and a 26-5 win over (RV) Marian.
Kiera Russell is Benedictine's goals and groundballs leader with ten and eight. Kaylen Moore is the Ravens' assists and draw controls leader with ten and twenty.
Kaylen Moore was named the NAIA Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week for her performance against Marian. There, she scored five goals and made seven assists to earn Offensive Player honors, and won 12 draw controls, picked up five groundballs, and caused two turnovers to earn Defensive Player honors.
Benedictine and Ottawa have met 15 times, a series that has been dominated by the Ravens. Ottawa has won just once, that win coming in 2017. Since, Benedictine has won eleven straight, including twice last season, 20-4 and 18-12.
This will not be the only time Ottawa and Benedictine play this season. They will meet again on March 26 in Ottawa for the conference matchup.
