SALINA, Kan. – The Ottawa University baseball team fell 10-7 in the final game of its series with Kansas Wesleyan University at Dean Evans Stadium on Monday afternoon.
Ottawa broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fourth inning.
Julius Ryan led off the inning with a walk.
Dylan Garcia, who was just named KCAC Player of the Week, hit a home run to left center, scoring Ryan to give the Braves a 2-0 lead. Ottawa scored one more run in the inning on Jeremy Freeman, Jr's infield single and OU had a 3-0.
The Coyotes rallied in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring six runs to take a 6-3 lead over OU. The Braves cut into the KWU lead with a run in the top of the sixth.
Cole Broughton hit a home run to left-center and OU trailed 6-4. Kansas Wesleyan answered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth, extending its lead to 10-4.
After a scoreless seventh, Ottawa cut into the KWU lead in the top of the eighth inning. Garcia was hit by a pitch. Broughton's single to left-center moved Garcia to second.
Nicholas Sizemore scored both Garcia and Broughton to put OU within 10-6.
Jesus Rodriguez singled to center and then scored on a double down the right field line and Ottawa trailed 10-7.
In the top of the ninth, with two outs, Garcia walked. The Braves were unable to score him and KWU took the 10-7 victory.

The Braves (12-2) will play a non-conference double header against Missouri Valley College on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at Alumni Park. Game one is scheduled to start 12:00 p.m.
