MARSHALL, Texas – The Ottawa University women's beach volleyball team went 1-1 on day one of the ETBU Beach Classic on Friday. The Braves fell 3-2 in the season opener against Texas Wesleyan University but rebounded to take a 4-1 victory over Texas A&M Texarkana.

Samantha Stahl and Elle Mitchell won their no. 4 pairs match 21-14, 21-15 over Hope Miller and Reagan Fitzimmons. Makela Martinez and Brenna Diller defeated Audrey Rogers and Mayara Swillens in their no. 5 pairs match 21-14, 21-23, 15-13.

Bailee Nickel and Madison Brauner fell 21-12, 21-13 in no. 1 pairs. Brittan Lee and Grace Davis were defeated 21-12, 21-10 in no. 2 pairs by Emily White and Emily Lewis. Hollis Peters and Carson Schuman, competing in no. 3 pairs, fell 22-20, 21-9 to Holland Hancock and Amber Smart. Samantha Young and Madison Holcomb fell in three sets in their exhibition contest 16-21, 21-15, 15-9.
