(RV) Baseball Splits with (13) Oklahoma Wesleyan

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The (RV) Ottawa University baseball team split the first two games of its series with (13) Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Friday at the OKWU baseball field. The Eagles took game one, 5-4 while OU rebounded to win game two, 4-3. Senior relief pitcher, Cameron Sistrunk broke the school record for career saves with his game two save. He now has 15 career saves in an OU uniform.

Game One
The Braves took the lead in the top of the first inning. Dylan Garcia doubled to left center and then scored with a single up the middle by Shaun Gomez, Jr. to give OU a 1-0 lead.

OKWU tied the game with a run in the bottom of the third, 1-1. That is where the score stayed until Ottawa retook the lead in the top of the eighth.

Julius Ryan singled up the middle. Garcia scored him with a home run and the Braves had a 3-1 lead.

The Eagles answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the eighth, tying the game at three runs apiece.

In the bottom of the ninth, OKWU was able to end the game with a home run by Connor Hickey and the Eagles took the 4-3 victory.

Game Two
OKWU struck first, taking a 1-0 lead over the Braves in the bottom of the first inning. The Eagles extended their lead with a run in the bottom of the third, 2-0.

Ottawa responded in the top of the fourth. Dylan Garcia singled to right and then moved to second after Shaun Gomez, Jr. was hit by a pitch. Jackson Alaniz connected on a three run home run, giving the Braves a 3-2 lead.

The Braves increased their lead in the top of the fifth. Anthony Soria singled to left and then advanced to second on an error by the OKWU pitcher. Julius Ryan moved Soria to third with a single up the middle. Garcia scored both Soria and Ryan with an infield single and OU led 5-2.

The Eagles cut into the Brave lead with a run in the bottom of the second, 5-3. In the bottom of the seventh, OKWU scored a run to cut OU's lead to 5-4. Cameron Sistrunk entered the game with one on and one out. He got the next two Eagles to ground out to Soria at shortstop to end the scoring threat and the Braves took the 5-4 victory.
