Women's Tennis Competes at ITA Regional Championships

SALINA, Kan. - The Ottawa women's tennis team finished their fall schedule at the ITA Regional Championships.

In the women's open singles, Paula Perrson beat Kate Rowland of Bethel College 6-1, 6-2 in the round of 64 before falling to Kaja Brunzlow of Texas Wesleyan University, 2-6, 6-1, 9-11. Mariam Alli-Balogun was defeated 1-6, 1-6 by Silva Avakian of Friends University in the round of 64 and lost her first match in the consolation round 1-8 to Oklahoma Wesleyan University's Nancy Henderson.

In the women's open doubles, Paula Persson and Mariam Alli-Balogun dropped their opening match 3-8 to Kristina Dimitrijevic and Charlotte Ready of William Woods University. They then fell in the consolation bracket, 4-6 to Greta Fankhauser and Danna Arroyo from Sterling College.

Ottawa's fall schedule is completed. They will hit the court again on February 6 as they take on Emporia State University in Emporia.
