Men's Lacrosse to Host (7) William Penn For Season Opener

OTTAWA, Kan. - The Ottawa men's lacrosse team opens their season at home as they host (7) William Penn for a Presidents' Day game.

The Braves are coming off an 0-11 season in 2025, their first losing season since 2021. Their first season in the Heart of America Athletic Conference featured an 0-9 conference record.
Ottawa returns seven players from last year's roster and added thirteen newcomers for a roster of twenty this season.
Key returners include Mark Spells, Tucker Yeley, and Dylan Murano.
In addition to thirteen new players, the Braves have a new Head Coach in Kyle Beard, who will coach both the men's and women's lacrosse programs.
William Penn is also opening their season with this game.
The seventh-ranked Statesmen are coming off a 12-4 2025, which featured a 9-0 conference record, a Heart Tournament Championship, and an NAIA Quarterfinal loss to the eventual National Champion Keiser.
William Penn's key returners include Third Team All-Americans Kenny Bohney and Blake Cyboron, as well as Second Team All-Heart member Garrett Katrana.
Ottawa and William Penn have met five times, once in each of the last five seasons. William Penn leads the series 3-2, and has won the last two games, including last year's contest in Ottawa by a score of 28-1.
Ottawa is 5-5 all-time in season openers and 6-4 in home openers.
This is the earliest season opener for Ottawa since their inaugural game as a program, an 18-3 road win over Dallas Baptist on February 6, 2016.
William Penn was selected first in the Heart of America Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll, Ottawa was selected eighth.
