Box Score LIBERTY, Mo. - The Ottawa women's lacrosse team started their season out with a loss as they fell to William Jewell by a score of 20-4 on Wednesday evening in Liberty.

Ottawa struck first, with KaiAnna Senne scoring the first goal of the game just eleven seconds in, but William Jewell responded with a roar, scoring the last five goals of the first quarter. The second quarter again went the way of the Cardinals, outscoring Ottawa seven to one to take a 12-2 halftime lead. 4-1 and 4-1 third and fourth quarters drove the victory home for William Jewell.

William Jewell outshot Ottawa 38 to 14 and led shots on goal 23 to nine. The two teams were equal in both ground balls and draw controls, with nine and twelve apiece.

KaiAnna Senne, Brianna Valadao, Ashlyn Lopez and Rilee Barnett each scored a goal, Barnett made Ottawa's lone assist. Saniya Watt made three saves in goal for Ottawa.

Ottawa (0-1, 0-0 HAAC) returns to the field on Saturday, February 21 as they host (1) Benedictine College at AdventHealth Field. That game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM.
