Baseball Scores 14 unanswered Runs to Down Southwestern in 7 Innings, 14-4

OTTAWA, Kan. — After a shaky first inning, the Ottawa Braves flipped the script in emphatic fashion Friday afternoon at Alumni Park, storming back with 14 unanswered runs to dismantle Southwestern, 14–4.

How It Happened

First Inning
Southwestern capitalized on walks in the top of the first, pushing across four runs on just one hit. The Braves found themselves in an early 4–0 hole.
But that was the last momentum the visitors would have all afternoon.

Second Inning
Jose Vega jump-started the comeback with a solo homer to right-center, putting Ottawa on the board and igniting the dugout.

Third Inning
Ottawa erupted for eight runs in a decisive frame.
  • RBI single from Jeremy Freeman, Jr.
  • Go-ahead grand slam from Julius Ryan to right-center. It was the 22nd grand slam in program history and Ryan's second this season.
  • RBI walk from Dylan Snead capped the rally
By inning's end, Ottawa had flipped the 4–1 deficit into a commanding 9–4 lead — and never looked back.

Middle Innings
The Braves tacked on three more in the fifth, highlighted by: An RBI double from Kaiden Hoapili in the sixth extended the margin to 13–4.

Ottawa added one more in the seventh after forcing another defensive miscue.

On the Mound
After a tough opening frame, the Braves bullpen slammed the door.

Luis Diaz delivered a dominant 6.1-inning performance, allowing zero hits and striking out seven. Southwestern did not record a hit after the second inning.
