(20) Baseball Shuts Out Bethany Twice in Doubleheader Sweep

OTTAWA, Kan. - The (20) Ottawa University Braves put together a commanding performance on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Park, sweeping Bethany College in a doubleheader with shutout victories of 10-0 in game one and 6-0 in game two.

Game 1: Ottawa 10, Bethany 0
Ottawa scored in six different innings while the pitching staff limited Bethany to just three hits.

The Braves broke the scoreless tie in the third inning. Jose Lopez reached base and later scored when Dylan Snead delivered an RBI double to left field. Ottawa added another run in the fourth when Julius Ryan tripled and came home on a sacrifice fly by Dane Lujan.

In the fifth, with the bases loaded, Snead crushed a grand slam to right field, giving Ottawa a commanding 6-0 lead. It was the 23rd grand slam in program history and the fourth this season.

Declan Brown led off the sixth with a solo home run, and later in the inning Jalen Ryan drove in another run with an RBI single. Ottawa added insurance runs in the seventh and eighth on RBI singles from Garrett Dodd and Jalen Ryan.

On the mound, Grant Faris set the tone with five dominant innings, striking out nine and allowing just one hit. Logan Tice and Tim Burke finished the combined shutout.

Ottawa wasted little time taking control in the second game, erupting for four runs in the first inning.

After Dylan Snead reached base and moved to third on an error, Jeremy Freeman singled to drive in the first run. Later in the inning, Kaiden Hoapili delivered a two-run double and Declan Brown followed with an RBI single to push the lead to 4-0.

The Braves added another run in the fifth when Snead tripled to right center and scored Branden Franz. Ottawa tacked on one more in the seventh when Freeman grounded out to bring home Jalen Ryan.

Adrian Quintana was dominant on the mound, throwing a complete game shutout. The right-hander allowed just two hits while striking out eight to secure the sweep.
