OTTAWA, Kan. - The Ottawa University baseball team used a relentless offensive attack and strong relief pitching to power past Central Christian College, 13–3, on Monday afternoon at Alumni Park. The Braves piled up 15 hits and scored in five different innings.
Central Christian jumped out to an early 2–0 lead in the top of the first, but Ottawa answered immediately and never looked back, scoring 12 of the next 13 runs to take control of the contest.
Ottawa tied the game in the bottom of the first on a two-run single by
Jeremy Freeman, Jr. The Braves then broke the game open in the second inning with four runs, highlighted by a two-run double from
Julius Ryan and RBI doubles from
Dane Lujan and
Kaiden Hoapili.
The Braves kept the pressure on with two runs in the third and four more in the fourth.
Jalen Ryan's RBI triple and
Dylan Snead's RBI single extended the lead before Ottawa capitalized on Central Christian miscues and clutch hitting to push the margin to 12–2.
Central Christian managed a solo home run in the seventh, but Ottawa answered in the bottom half with an RBI double from
Jesus Rodriguez to secure the run-rule victory.
On the mound,
Wesley Strand earned the win in relief, shutting down the Tigers over three scoreless innings while allowing just two hits.
