Baseball Falls to McPherson, 14-7

McPHERSON, Kan. — The Ottawa University baseball team fell 14-7 to McPherson College on Sunday afternoon at Bulldog Park.

McPherson struck first with a solo home run in the opening inning, but Ottawa answered in the second. After a leadoff double by Dane Lujan, Kaiden Hoapili delivered an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1.

The Braves continued to respond offensively, highlighted by a pair of home runs from Jeremy Freeman, Jr. His first came in the third inning to even the score at 2-2, and his second in the fifth cut into the Bulldogs' lead.

Despite Ottawa's ability to answer, McPherson capitalized on key moments in the third and fourth innings, scoring six runs across those frames to build an 8-2 advantage.

Ottawa refused to go away. The Braves exploded for three home runs across the seventh and eighth innings, including blasts from Hoapili, Julius Ryan, and Lujan, trimming the deficit to 13-7.

However, McPherson answered with a five-run seventh inning of their own and added one more in the eighth to seal the 14-7 final.
