Braves Athletics Has 21 Programs Named NAIA Scholar Teams

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Ottawa University had 21 athletic programs earn NAIA Scholar Team recognition for their academic performance during the 2025-26 academic year.

To be recognized as an NAIA Scholar Team, a varsity athletic program must finish the academic year with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The team GPA includes the academic performance of eligible varsity student-athletes during both the fall and spring semesters.

The Braves were represented across a wide range of sports, with all 21 qualifying programs posting a team GPA of 3.05 or higher. Ottawa softball led the way with a 3.71 team GPA, while women's basketball followed closely with a 3.69 GPA.

Men's tennis was third among Ottawa programs with a 3.60 GPA, followed by women's soccer at 3.55 and women's wrestling at 3.53. In all, seven Ottawa programs recorded a team GPA of 3.45 or higher.

The 21 Scholar Team selections highlight Ottawa University's continued commitment to academic achievement alongside athletic success. Every OU program recognized by the NAIA surpassed the required 3.0 team GPA.

The NAIA Scholar Team award recognizes programs throughout the association that demonstrate excellence in the classroom during the academic year.
