OTTAWA, Kan. – Ottawa University head baseball coach Jonathan Freemyer will be inducted into the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the Rangers' 35th Hall of Fame class.

The Hall of Fame ceremonies will take place Saturday, Jan. 30, 2027, in Alva, Okla. The class will be honored at a luncheon beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the Student Center Ballroom before being formally inducted during halftime of Northwestern Oklahoma State's men's basketball game against Arkansas Tech University. The men's game is scheduled to tip off at 3 p.m. inside Percefull Fieldhouse.

Freemyer was a two-sport standout during his collegiate career at Northwestern Oklahoma State, earning three letters on the baseball diamond and four on the basketball court. He became the first athlete in Great American Conference history to earn First Team All-GAC honors in two different sports.

On the basketball court, Freemyer established himself as one of the top players in Ranger history. He finished his career as Northwestern Oklahoma State's third all-time leading scorer and ranked among the program's top five in career rebounds and steals. During the 2012-13 season, Freemyer earned First Team All-GAC honors.

Freemyer was equally successful on the baseball diamond. His senior season in 2014 was highlighted by GAC Player of the Year honors after he hit .358 with 16 home runs, 52 RBI and a .737 slugging percentage. His 16 home runs established a GAC single-season record. Freemyer earned First Team ABCA/Rawlings All-Central Region honors before being selected Third Team ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-American. He became Northwestern Oklahoma State's first NCAA All-American in any sport following the university's transition to NCAA Division II.

Freemyer's accomplishments also earned him recognition beyond his time in Alva. In 2020, he was selected to the Great American Conference Baseball All-Decade Team.

Following his collegiate career, Freemyer signed as an undrafted free agent with the Tampa Bay Rays organization and spent the summer of 2014 playing professionally.

Freemyer earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice with a minor in communications from Northwestern Oklahoma State in 2014. He later earned a Master of Arts in American studies in 2017.
Freemyer's success as a student-athlete has carried over into his coaching career. He is entering his fifth season as head coach of the Ottawa University baseball program in 2027 and has compiled a 142-70 overall record and a 96-45 mark in KCAC play through his first four seasons.

Under Freemyer's direction, the Braves have developed into one of the top programs in the KCAC while making an impact nationally. He has coached one NAIA All-American, two KCAC Pitchers of the Year, one KCAC Freshman of the Year, six KCAC Gold Glove selections and 30 All-KCAC performers.

Freemyer guided Ottawa to the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round in 2025. The Braves finished that season with a 39-15 record and earned an NAIA postseason victory with a 6-0 win over Southern University at New Orleans in the Shreveport Bracket.

Ottawa has also rewritten the program record book during Freemyer's tenure. The Braves broke or tied nine single-season team records during the 2025 campaign and another four in 2026.

Success under Freemyer has extended beyond the field. Following the 2025-26 academic year, Ottawa earned the American Baseball Coaches Association Team Academic Excellence Award, recognizing programs that finished the academic year with a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

Before taking over the Ottawa program, Freemyer spent five seasons, from 2018 through 2022, as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Kansas Wesleyan University. In 2022, he helped the Coyotes capture their first KCAC Tournament Championship since 2011 and earn their first NAIA Opening Round appearance since 2011.

Freemyer also returned to Northwestern Oklahoma State as an assistant coach from 2014 through 2017. He worked with the Rangers' hitters and outfielders and was named the program's recruiting coordinator for the 2016-17 season.
