2012-13: Nichols appeared in five games at the varsity level as a sophomore. He also was a member of the junior varsity team.

2011-12: Nichols played in 18 games as a freshman for the Braves. He averaged two points and 1.2 rebounds per game, shooting 57 percent from the floor. Nichols scored his first point and earned his first rebound versus Avila University (11/1). He scored a career high eight points on 3-for-3 shooting from the floor in just 13 minutes of play versus University of Saint Mary (1/7). Nichols had a career high three rebounds twice with the last time being against Kansas Wesleyan University (1/18). He played a career high 16 minutes versus Sterling College (2/4) and had a career high two assists versus Baker University (11/12).

High School: Nichols earned letters in basketball and academics at Topeka High School. He helped lead the Trojans to a Centennial League Championship.
